I’ve always been a planner, I always knew what my next step in life would be. Off to University after A Levels, go travelling, get a job, get my Master, buy a property but then all of a sudden I ran out of goals - I felt completely lost and wasn’t sure what my focus was. I felt as though I was just coasting along in life. It wasn’t until a very wise lady said to me - it’s ok just to be, its ok to not have that next goal in mind, it’s good to just enjoy life and be open to what it brings you. Sounds simple really when you think about it!
Maybe you don’t run out of goals, instead, you happily moving forward in life’s journey and then all of a sudden you come across a roadblock and you need to make a diversion. Sometimes we can have the best plans, you have it all pictured in your mind, you’ve met Mr/Mrs. Right; you’re going to move in together, get married. You’ve worked out what your dream job is and you are on the road to achieving your career aspirations and then ‘boom’ you hit that roadblock. Something out of the blue completely throws you off; you’ve lost your job, illness or relationship breakdown. What do you do? Let the confusion or disappointment take over, grieve for what could have been or do you focus on finding your new path. How you respond to this roadblock is your decision.
